Jean-Philippe joined the University of Illinois in Spring 2000 and LEAM in Spring 2002. He has contributed to the development and creation of the Raccoon model and the habitat fragmentation model. He is currently in charge of the impact models relative to environment (bird, raccoon, fragmentation, snake and kudzu).

Starting his Ph.D in the University of Illinois Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, Jean-Philippe is interested in the effect of elevated CO2  concentration and global change on the spreading capacity of invasive species.

In Master's thesis (2002) in the University of Illinois Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, Jean-Philippe investigated the potential effect of global warming on Illinois flora through the comparison of the differential photosynthetic response between C3 and C4 plants. He also developed a spatial model of the potential spread of kudzu (an invasive vine) throughout Illinois.

Jean-Philippe earned a BS in Agronomy in 1999, and an MS in Agronomy in 2000 from the National Superior School of Agronomy and Food Sciences (ENSAIA), France. At the University of Illinois, Jean-Philippe taught an introductory course (ACES100) to the college of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences. He is concerned about environmental protection and has participated, as a volunteer, on several restoration projects in Europe.

During his spare time, Jean-Philippe enjoys running, Tae Kwon Do, volleyball, and kite flying. He has traveled in UK, Germany, Italy, Canada, and the Netherlands. He would like to journey to Asia next, focusing on Japan.
