Yun Wang joined LEAM at the University of Illinois in 2002 summer due to tremendous interest in dynamic modeling. Her LEAM focus is on impacts of land-use change on ecosystem sustainability and on social costs associated with changes in environmental quality driven by land-use alteration. As part of the PhD program in Geography, Yun intends to couple her interest in ecosystem and economics with an aptitude for complex systems modeling across space as well as time.  

Yun came to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2000 pursuing master’s degree in Soil Ecology at Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences She finished her master study in 2003. Her thesis is on influences of agricultural managements on soil organic matter.

Yun’s undergraduate education comes from Wuhan University in China, where she earned bachelor’s degree in Environmental Biology in 2000. Her undergraduate research efforts involved toxicology on algae.  

In other activities, Yun enjoyed a memorable experience teaching English to students at College of Zhongnan Theology in 2000. Yun has many hobbies including table-tennis, badminton, volleyball, swimming, dancing, singing, playing guitar, and watching Kong-Fu movies and sports games. Yun also wishes to travel around the world enjoying the beauty of life.
