Wayne joined LEAM in October 2004 as a projects specialist. His duties at the LEAM Lab include general project management and coordination of product development, analyzing model results and writing reports, proposal writing, assisting with research and model development, web content management, and communicating with clients on logistics and deliverables.

Wayne is interested in how the application of LEAM can provide planners and local stakeholders with greater insight and understanding of what drives growth, where future growth is likely to occur, and the potential positive and negative impacts of alternative future scenarios. This modeling process hopefully creates a dialogue that leads to better land-use decisions by planners, local stakeholders, and public officials.

Before joining the LEAM Lab, Wayne was with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for 16 years as a research economist and policy analyst, conducting research on a variety of energy and environmental issues. Wayne assisted in the development and administration of the agency’s “balanced growth” projects to assess the impacts of future development patterns and policies to protect natural resources.

Wayne received a B.S. in Finance from Millikin University and a M.S. in Economics from Illinois State University.
