User Interface
Viewing Requirements
LEAM creates a web-based visual representation of the geographical changes of each scenario as well as graphs, charts and other data. A Web browser and Macromedia Flash plug-in are required to view the interface. The data is stored on the LEAM server and downloaded for viewing, therefore the time it takes to run is dependent upon the speed of your connection.
Components
- Choose policies or scenario combinations (each scenario is described within a box on the model interface).
- Run the model after choosing a policy to explore by clicking on the run button. The system will then pull stored model data and images up for your viewing.
- View the consequences of the various impacts of growth scenarios as summary maps, animated maps, and small multiple maps. The large animated map shows land use change continuously while the user is running the model. Small multiple maps have been used to show the land use change captured at 5-year time steps. The summary map is a static depiction of aggregate land use change at the end of the simulation. Graphs can be used to compare predicted results of alternative scenarios.
